This policy explains, in plain words, what personal data we collect when you visit smartlittleguides.com or buy one of our guides, why, and what your rights are under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Who is responsible

The controller is Emerson Junior Ramos, 42 rue de Hedange, L-3840 Schifflange, Luxembourg. Email: support@smartlittleguides.com.

What data we process and why

1. Visiting the website

The site runs on WordPress.com (Automattic). When you visit, Automattic processes technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you open, the referring page and the time of the visit, to deliver and secure the site. Our visitor statistics use Jetpack Stats, which gives us only aggregated numbers (for example, how many people viewed a page). According to Jetpack, the stats logs with IP addresses are kept by Automattic for 28 days and are not visible to us.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website and understanding which pages are useful (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

More information: Automattic privacy policy and Jetpack Stats data used.

2. Buying or downloading a guide (Gumroad)

When you get a guide, including a free one, you complete the order on Gumroad. Gumroad collects your email address, name (if you give it), country, payment details and order details. Payment card data is handled by Gumroad and its payment providers; we never see your full card number. Gumroad then shares with us your email address, name (if given), country and what you bought, so we can deliver the guide and answer support requests.

Legal basis: performing the contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and keeping accounting records required by law (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).

More information: Gumroad privacy policy.

3. Contacting us

If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Cookies

We do not use advertising cookies on this site. WordPress.com may set technical cookies that are needed for the site to work (for example, for logged-in WordPress.com users or to remember a cookie choice). Gumroad sets its own cookies on its pages during checkout; see Gumroad’s privacy policy.

We do not currently use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, affiliate tracking scripts, embedded videos or social media widgets on this website. If we add any of them, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before they are used.

Who receives your data

  • Automattic (WordPress.com and Jetpack) – website hosting and statistics.
  • Gumroad, Inc. – online shop, payment, delivery and VAT.
  • Authorities, only when the law requires it.

Some of these providers are based in the United States. They transfer data with the safeguards required by the GDPR (such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses), as described in their own privacy policies. We do not sell your data.

How long we keep it

  • Order data: as long as needed to deliver the guide and handle support, and for as long as required by law (in Luxembourg, accounting records are usually kept for 10 years).
  • Emails with us: up to 3 years after our last exchange.
  • Website statistics: aggregated numbers only.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable format. If we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Write to support@smartlittleguides.com; we reply within one month.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In Luxembourg this is the Commission nationale pour la protection des données (CNPD), 15, Boulevard du Jazz, L-4370 Belvaux – cnpd.public.lu. You may also contact the authority in the EU country where you live.

Changes

We may update this policy when our tools or the law change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
